Malati – Kora India icon

Malati

Malati
Commonly known as the Jasmine flower, can also mean night or moonlight perhaps because it flowers towards the evening. It is one of the most popular flowers of India, seen and more particularly smelt everywhere, adorned in the hair as delicate gajras and sold early in the morning along with fresh vegetables and other daily essential.
Seen here, embroidered delicately in off-white on buttery Chanderis and fine cottons highlighted with delicate sequins, these ensembles are reminiscent of languid summer evenings, filled with love and laughter.
